Sommers Chiropractic opens in South Burlington

Provided. Victoria and Dr. Michael Sommers opened Sommers Chiropractic in South Burlington last fall.

SOUTH BURLINGTON – Dr. Michael Sommers and his wife, Victoria, have always dreamed of getting married, starting a family and opening their own chiropractic practice. In 2015, they checked off all those boxes.
Victoria is the marketing director and Michael is the chiropractor at Sommers Chiropractic, which opened in November in the Barnes & Noble plaza in South Burlington. Sommers Chiropractic operates out of 700 square feet above the EMS store — and, yes, there is an elevator.
Dr. Sommers and his wife are high school sweethearts. They were married in September and moved to Vermont from Atlanta, Georgia, in 2013 for an internship at Stowe Chiropractic with Dr. Palmer Peet, president of the Vermont Chiropractic Board.
Dr. Sommers has also worked as a team physician for the Vermont Lake Monsters over the last two years. He is a member of the Vermont Chiropractic Association, the International Chiropractic Association, the Professional Baseball Chiropractic Association, and the Lake Champlain Chamber of Commerce.
At Sommers Chiropractic — conveniently located near Centennial Field for the Lake Monsters — patients range from infants to seniors. Dr. Sommers focuses on drugless, holistic care.
“Most of our patients love our new location,” he said. “The office is located in the epicenter of South Burlington’s commercial district. Our patients are able to have easy access to our office while being able to get their grocery shopping or retail needs done right across the street.”
Dr. Sommers’ first patient was his sister, Jennifer, whom he helped recover from a stroke that she suffered due to side effects from her prescription birth control.
“My purpose for becoming a chiropractor was to provide an alternative solution for patient’s symptoms,” Dr. Sommers said. “Our mission of providing an alternative to prescription medication and the harmful side effects has only strengthened after seeing firsthand the effects it can have on a person and family. My sister’s determination and strength has driven my wife and I to open our practice so we can help our community reach its greatest potential in health and wellness through the most advanced chiropractic care possible.”
