Rutland Regional Medical Center recently hired John Gavin Cotter, a physician working in the Comprehensive Care & Infectious Diseases Clinic.
Cotter brings years of experience in treating a broad array of infectious diseases, ranging from viral infections including influenza and hepatitis to bacterial infections.
He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in movement and sports science from Purdue University.
Cotter received his doctorate in medicine from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2000.
He completed an internal medicine residency at University of Massachusetts and completed fellowships in infectious disease at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., and transplant infectious disease at the Mayo Clinic.
Additionally, he received his master’s degree in public health from Dartmouth College.
