CASTLETON — The newly completed police station will open its doors to visitors on Sunday, May 22.
A grand opening is planned from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the station.
The event is an “opportunity for families, friends and neighbors to come out to celebrate. Hamburgers and hotdogs along with children’s events and more will be part of the day,” according to a post on the town’s website.
The building is attached to the Castleton Fire Station on Route 30 North.
Officers moved into the new offices a little more than a month ago. The more than 17,000-square-foot station features more space to better store evidence (the new office building boasts an entire room dedicated to it rather than a filing cabinet in the chief’s office) a more private space to conduct police interviews, a holding cell and an area for processing.
